The proposed budget for 2014 was approved. Among the cuts, the one that affects us the most is that our Area 3 funds for meetings has been cut from $600 to $400 per year.
Patchwork Press will cut back the number of issues from 6 to 4.
Our Maine Quilts Show Coordinator, Callie Lavoie, is now a full-time employee of PTQG.
Raffle tickets will be arriving in chapter contacts mailboxes this week. Remember, this is one of our largest fund raisers and we need your support in selling all your chapter's tickets. Chapter contacts, please be sure to send in what monies you have to Ruth Alexander each month so that we have a flow of funds coming in. Need more tickets? Ruth would be happy to oblige!
The Maine Quilts show catalog will be available the end of February. Pay special attention to the volunteer information-lots of great prizes to win! Also, our own Ethel Dubois and Carole Pettinelli will be hosting a Beginning Applique class. This is perfect for those of you who have shied away from needle turn applique--learn from two of the best!
The winners of $100 PTQG scholarships are Beth Maitland, Carolee Withee and Terry Blanchette.
Bonnie Dwyer asked that those who will be attending the April 22nd Area 3 meeting, "100 Years of American Quilts", to bring along their own vintage quilts to share. Bonnie will be able to give you a greater of insight on your treasures.
I gave my report on the $250 Mini-Grant I was awarded in 2013. A photo board with over 36 quilts I made for Running Strong for Native American Youth were shared with the membership. It is hoped that photos of the quilts given to the children will soon be available to post very soon here on the blog.
We enjoyed a walk down memory lane with Bonnie Dwyer's presentation, "Six Generations of Maine Quilters". Bonnie shared her most treasured possessions, quilts, notes and notions, left to her from past generations. Photos of her show are below, along with photos of her most recent modern quilts.
