"A Mask for a Mask" Information

Thanks to Donna Gillis of Cross Country Quilters of the Bethel area for sharing this information:

"A Mask for a Mask" Facebook page project has an order for 1,000 fabric masks to be distributed between Rumford and Bridgton hospitals. These are made to cover the N95 mask.

The size they want is a finished mask of 12" x 8 1/2" with strings made from 2 1/2" bias strips.

Check out the details on the Facebook page where there is a form under announcements.

Washable Face Mask-COVID-19 Information

Michelle Small of The Dempsey Center in Lewiston has received information on making fabric mask covers for Central Maine Healthcare.

These covers can be used over the N95 and square disposable masks. I would suggest you wash the fabric prior to making and the groups that get these masks with sterilize them for medical use.

If you know of a health care institute in your local area that can use these mask covers, please reach out to them. Check with your police and fire departments and nursing homes. If you know of other states that are collecting these masks for immediate use, please also touch base with me.

Just remember that these masks, on their own, DO NOT protect you and yours. In fact, I have touched base with two nurses today and they say without the proper liner they can do more harm by giving those who wear them false hope. The droplets in the air stay on the fabric and you will constantly be breathing them in.

Please share any photos of masks that you make by sending them to me in .JPEG format to 2013Hexagonswap@gmail.com
