Update on the 2019 Native American Collection

Thanks to Laura Freeman of Pine Needle Quilters for this update:

"Wolf and I took a truckload up to Presque Isle last week to the Mic Macs--we couldn't stuff anymore in the back of the pick up!

There were nine sewing machines, two of them in cabinets, 16 quilts, most of them twin-size, six full-size crocheted afghans, blankets, material, thread, patterns, books, scissors, plus men's clothing, women's clothing, a box of brand new New Balance sneakers, toys, children's books, dolls, etc.

All together, we received 48 quilts, 19 afghans, three very large bags of blankets (no count) this year. We divided what we had among three reservations and made three deliveries between the end of August and last week. Since we've been back we received more items. So, next week we are going back to the Penobscot Reservation with a small load.

Whew! We are done for this year and will begin the 2020 collection next April. The focus will be on children and babies--clothes, diapers--everything that is needed for new babies and new moms.

There are no pictures, but we did receive a thank you email from the Maliseet's.

Thank you to everyone who participated. We get great joy doing this to help our Native Americans in our state. A bonus for us was the beautiful autumn leaves. We stopped at the Mt. Katahdin outlook and it was gorgeous."
