Quilted Shawl (Hugs Project)
At our Area 3 meeting this week, Jo-Ann Korhonen shared with us some of the comfort shawls she made for the Hugs Project.
These small shawls were made for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland, but could be modified to fit adults for use in nursing, senior and veteran centers.
My suggestion is that before you or your local chapter begin pass production to contact the venue and see if they have any criteria for donations, such as pre-washing, sizes, etc.
Here are various links to patterns and modifications. Please note that the sample shown at the meeting did not have the front tab as shown in the patterns.
You can make these with a quilted pattern for the outside and a fleece lining, or use whole cloth for both the inside and outer layers.
