Quilts for Hospice of Southern Maine-Gosnell House
This is a Facebook message sent to our Patchwork Press editor, Pam Nourse. She wanted to share with all the chapters in PTQG:
"Hi Pam,
I thought that you were the person for this request. Quilts! Hospice of Southern Maine provided homemade quilts for all patients at Gosnell Hospice house. It makes the room so much more homey and less antiseptic. They are in need of some new ones. Do you think that any of your quilting friends may have a twin quilt to donate? You can reach me at the email address below."

Pam says that she is pretty sure some of our chapters have been involved with providing quilts to Gosnell House in the past - the name is familiar, so I'm sure I've seen it in PWP before. I'm wondering if everyone - especially the area reps - can pass along the word that they could use some more, if any chapters or individuals are up for another charity project?

More Shares from Lisbon Chapter
Thank you to Carol Donnell for sharing these photos of quilts made by fellow Lisbon Krazy Kwilters members...
In the category of "sometimes it just takes time", Linda Tremblay
completed her Hawaiian Orchids quilt. She was inspired by a picture she saw one
day (over 5 years ago) and called Hawaii for the pattern! Upon receipt, she traced the pattern onto the
background, basted it, and then somehow it found itself in the UFO pile.
This
year she uncovered the work, and become determined to finish it. It is all hand
appliqued and quilted in deep purple on white background. A beautiful
achievement.
One of our new members, Sheila Clifford wanted to make something
special for her son and daughter-in-law’s 21st wedding anniversary and made a
lovely king- sized quilt. What beautiful fall colors!

2017 Native American Quilt Collection
Laura Freeman is now collecting for the 2017 Native American Quilt Collection, which is co-sponsored by the Pine Needles Quilters. This year they will be donating to the Penobscot Reservation in the Orono/Indian Island area.
As in past years, they are collecting new quilts, blankets, afghans and fleece throws from baby to full size. Also needed are new knitted items for adults, children and babies. Baby clothes, diapers and other necessary items for a baby are requested. Of course, if you cannot donate an item, a cash donation to go towards an emergency fuel fund would be very welcomed.
Other items need for baby are sleeper suits, onesies and t-shirts, baby booties and socks, disposable diapers and wipes, diaper bags, crib and receiving blankets, cotton baby caps, scratch mittens and nail clippers, washcloths and baby soap, rash ointment and baby lotion, ear and nose syringe, baby bottles and brushes, hair brush and comb sets, pacifier and bibs and soft plush toys.
Mom can also use lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, comb and toiletry bags.
Please drop of your quilts by the end of September so that they can deliver to the reservation in early October.
