Stunning Quilt by Country Square Quilters Member, Lisa Small

Barbara Black from Country Square Quilters was kind enough to send us a photo to share with our group. The quilt was made by Lisa Small (left) and is done entirely by hand. Lisa showed the quilt during a recent Show and Tell (a favorite segment of our meetings) and it was greatly admired.

Isn't that an exquisite quilt?  Lisa. I hope you bring the quilt along to the upcoming Area 3 meeting so we can all admire it in person!

Do you have a photo of a quilt from your own Show and Tell and would like to share it with us? Just email it to me in .JPEG format and I will be delighted to post it on the blog. There is nothing like "quilting eye candy" to get the creative juices flowing!

New Fabric Store in Lewiston

Kelly's Fabric Connection, 808 Main St., Lewiston (on the left, just past Marden's) is officially opened.

I stopped in today to check it out and found only a few bolts of fabrics, but many flat folds, including batiks, for $3.98/yd. The bulk of the fabrics are for home decorating. It's certainly worth a stop in while in the area. An no, I didn't come home empty-handed...

Check out their website at www.kellysfabricconnection.com or call them at 207-753-3054 for more information.

Fabric Supply Fair in April

Time to mark your calendars for the annual fabric supply fair at the High Street Congregational Church, 106 Pleasant St. in Auburn.

The date is Saturday, April 12th from 9-1. Three suggestions=--be early, bring along sturdy shopping bags to take home all your treasures and plenty of small bills

If you would like to do a spring cleaning in your sewing room, you can rent a table for $20. Just remember this fair is for fabric and supplies, not finished projects.

You can contact Paula Wing at 207-782-3751 for more information.

Healthy Vegetarian Lasagna

Preheat oven to broil to cook zucchini; then switch over to 375 degrees to bake the lasagna.
Bake for 30 minutes
6-8 servings

What you need is…
One 28-ounce jar of spaghetti sauce
1 egg, slightly scrambled
½ cup fresh basil leaves (julienned)
4 zucchini- thinly sliced lengthwise (you can leave the skin on)
Now, you can also add shredded carrots, sweet potatoes, eggplant, etc. if you wish. Try some saute spinach for extra vitamins!
16 oz. bag of shredded mozzarella cheese
15 oz. ricotta cheese
2 tbsp. Parmesan cheese

Salt & Pepper to taste

Preheat broiler. Place zucchini lengths on a lightly oiled cookie sheet, and heat until browned. Cool slightly.

Mix egg with ricotta cheese.

To make lasagna; coat the bottom of a 9” x 13” baking pan with sauce, cover with a layer of zucchini (and extra veggies!) and basil, followed by a layer of the ricotta cheese and mozzarella.  Repeat.

Top with the rest of the spaghetti sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake until golden brown. Cool slightly and service.
