New Quiltville Mystery Quilt "Allietare"

For all you Bonnie Hunter and Quiltville lovers, good news! The 2015 mystery quilt introduction has been posted!

I will be posting each part of the mystery quilt as they are available on November 27th and you will find them under the Quiltville name on the right side of the blog.

Bonnie picked golds, reds, creams/whites, black and two different shades of grey. Personally, I wanted to bust my stash and not buy any new fabric for this project.

Here are my white on black and black on white prints. I do, sorry to say, need a few more pieces of the white on black to fulfill the yardage requirements. Otherwise, I'm going with red and shades of turquoise/aqua. The two grey fabrics are constants, so I would only need one yardage of each. Personally, I have a nice darker grey, but think I want to go a bit brighter and use a lime green and

Maybe I need to sleep on it and then decide on the colors below. The photo of  "Easy Street" had the same red, blues, grey, white on black and purple. Bonnie seems to like my color combination!

Quilting Tip of the Week 10.29.15

Here are a few great ideas for pin holders....

Use a magnetic screw holder you can find at any hardware or car part store.

Try a magnetic paper clip holder for your straight pins.

Maine Crafts Craft Apprentice Program

Craft Apprentice Program: Apply by Dec 4, 2015
The Maine Crafts Association, in partnership with the Maine Arts Commission, offers CAP: a statewide craft apprentice program for contemporary craft practitioners. The program seeks master and apprentice pairs to apply for the 2016 program, a seven month concentrated peer-to-peer in-studio learning experience with MCA guidance and support.
Application Dead line: December 4, 2016
Selections Announced: January 31, 2015
Apprenticeship Dates: March 1, 2016 - September 15, 2016

Master and apprentice artist pairs apply jointly, applications are reviewed by a jury of Maine professionals. The application requires images, resumes and apprenticeship plan details. Applications must be received by December 4, 2015 to be considered for the 2016 program.

$3000 to the master, $1000 to the apprentice, based on a recommended 100 hours of one-on-one training.

March 1-September 15, 2016

To close the program, all artists participate in an exhibition at a highly attended venue as part of Maine Craft Weekend in October 2016.

To promote sustainability, the MCA & MAC will invite current participants and alumni to convene annually to discuss outcomes of MaineCAP, as well as to develop networking and foster further mentoring.
